So the USA failed to advance into the Round of 16 by losing 2-1 to Ghana. We blew a number of chances to score and only managed one goal for the entire round. Pretty pathetic. But once again, the officiating proved to be a major obstacle. This time around, it was an extremely questionable call in the box at the very end of the first half. Ghana scored on the ensuing penalty kick and locked down their defense for the rest of the game. In addition to that, Ghana was called for 32 fouls that yielded just two warnings and no ejections. In contrast, the US only had 16 fouls. But in the end, we gave up the first goal of the game and in the World Cup that is the easiest way to dig your own grave.
