Not a smart move

Thelma Drake represents Virginia’s 2nd CD, an area rife with sailors and Marines. With no fewer than 5 big military installations in the immediate vicinity, her District must have one of the highest concentrations of service men and women in the nation. One would think that anyone whose constituency contains so many members in the military would support nearly any bill that would expand the GI Bill; much less one for which she was at one time a co-sponsor and would cost only $5 billion a year. Instead, Drake caved, fearing the awesome power of the lame-duck President and his veto pen. I cannot wait for her to try and defend this vote to a bunch of college aged sailors – not going to be pretty. Painting yourself as a tool of the Worst. President. Ever. seems a pretty unwise re-election strategy as well.
